Here is the final result of my old idea – repro of the late war (1917+) puttees made of Papierstoff. I have used custom woven hemp straps, with the width (9cm) and weave matching some of the many period Papierstoff variants, thin enough to be comfortable to wear and thick enough to be durable for the field usage in any conditions.
Metal hardware (small hooks, big hooks) are made of zinc galvanized steel and whole puttees are finished with the label copied from the original example, except the name of the producer, which I have replaced with my characteristic ADALBERT RAU 1917. Be sure to remember which puttee is left and which is right, it’s all written on the label! 🙂
